Who we are
dere ("we", "us") makes dere, a desktop AI companion, and runs the website at trydere.com. This policy explains what we collect when you use the app and the website, why, and what you can do about it.
Questions or requests: support@trydere.com.
What we collect
We collect only what the product needs to work:
- Account: your email address and a password (stored only as a hash by our authentication provider), or your Google account identity if you sign in with Google.
- Billing: payments are handled by Stripe. We keep your Stripe customer ID, your plan and subscription status. We never see or store full card numbers.
- Conversations: text transcripts of what you and your dere say, kept per companion so you can review them on the Activity page. Screen images and audio are never part of a transcript.
- Companion memory: the notes your dere writes about you and your preferences. You can read them on the Activity page; on the Max plan you can also edit and delete them there.
- Voice: microphone audio is sent to our speech-to-text provider to be transcribed and is not stored. If you create a voice clone, the audio sample you upload is sent to our voice provider to build the voice; we keep only the resulting voice ID and its name.
- Screen awareness (off by default): when you turn it on, frames of your screen are sent to the AI model for the current request only. They are analyzed to generate a reaction and then discarded. They are never stored and never used for training.
- Connected accounts (optional): if you connect Gmail, Google Calendar or Google Drive, we use read-only access scopes that you approve, and you can disconnect them at any time from the app.
- Usage: counters of how much chat and voice you use, to enforce the limits of your plan.
- Diagnostics: technical logs and request traces used to keep the service running. These can include the text of prompts and replies. We do not use them for advertising.
- Website: trydere.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics. See "Cookies and local storage" below.
How we use it
To run dere for you: authenticate you, generate your dere's replies and voice, remember what you have told it, react to your screen when you ask it to, act on your instructions, bill your subscription, and enforce plan limits.
To keep the service secure and reliable, including detecting abuse and fixing errors.
To answer your support requests.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Service providers
We rely on the following providers to deliver dere. Each receives only the data needed for its part of the service:
- Supabase: authentication and database hosting.
- Stripe: payments and subscription management.
- Google: Gemini models generate your dere's replies; Google sign-in if you choose it.
- ElevenLabs: text-to-speech and voice cloning.
- Groq: speech-to-text for your microphone audio.
- Composio: the read-only connections to Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive.
- Pydantic Logfire: diagnostics and request tracing.
- Vercel and Railway: hosting for the website and the backend.
Cookies and local storage
trydere.com does not set cookies and does not use analytics or tracking scripts. When you sign in on the website, your session token is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in; it is strictly necessary for the account pages to work and is removed when you sign out.
Retention and deletion
Conversation transcripts and companion memory are kept until they are deleted. Deleting a companion you created permanently deletes its history and memory; on the Max plan you can also delete single conversations and memory notes on the Activity page. For anything the app does not let you delete yourself, including a built-in companion's history, email support@trydere.com. Your account record and billing history are kept while your account exists and as long as tax and accounting law requires afterwards.
To delete your account and everything tied to it, email support@trydere.com from the address on the account.
Security and billing event logs (for example failed sign-ins and payment events) and diagnostic traces are kept after an account is deleted, for as long as they are needed to protect the service and meet legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict how we process it. The Activity page gives you direct access to your transcripts and memory; for anything else, email support@trydere.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
dere is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic between the app, the website and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to your data on our servers is restricted to your own account through per-row access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. For material changes we will also notify you in the app or by email.
